Mr. GUO Shuqing took office as Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) in February 2017. He currently also serves as a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee, a delegate of the 18th CPC National Congress and a delegate of the 12th National People?s Congress.
Mr. GUO has extensive working experience in local governments, central bank, regulatory authorities, and leading financial institutions. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of the CBRC, Mr. GUO held various positions including Governor of Shandong Province, Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Chairman of the China Construction Bank, Deputy Governor of the People?s Bank of China, and Vice Governor of Guizhou Province.
Mr. GUO specializes in a wide variety of macroeconomic and financial issues. He is a well-known scholar of economic theory and also a key policy-maker in the government?s initiatives to advance fiscal, taxation and financial reform.
Mr. GUO was born in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 1956. He received his Bachelor?s Degree in Philosophy from Nankai University and received a Ph.D. in Law from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
