Mr. WANG Huaqing was appointed member of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Commissioner of Discipline Inspection of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) in September 2007.
He is a Research Fellow with Ph. D in Economics. Prior to this appointment, Mr. WANG served as Assistant Chairman of the CBRC from December 2005, Director-General of the CBRC Shanghai office (September 2003 每 December 2005), Director-General of the Preparation Committee for the CBRC Shanghai office (July 2003 每 September 2003), Chief Banking Supervisor at the People*s Bank of China (PBC) Shanghai branch (November 2001 每 September 2003), Vice President of the PBC Shanghai branch (November 1998 每 November 2001), Vice President of the PBC Shanghai branch and Vice President of State Administration of Foreign Exchange Shanghai branch (September 1993 每 November 1998). In addition, he had been working at the Financial Research Institute of the PBC Shanghai branch from July 1984 to February 1991 as staff member, the deputy director-general and the director-general.
Mr. WANG was born in 1953 in Shanghai. He graduated from Sichuan Institute of Finance and Economics in 1984 and received his Ph. D. in economics from Southwest University of Finance and Economics in 1996. From January to May 1995, he was a Visiting Scholar at Georgetown University USA. He also spent almost two years from January 1996 to December 1997 doing his post-doctoral research at the Economics Department of Fudan University in Shanghai.
