The CBRC released 2012 supervisory statistics

 

Recently, the CBRC released supervisory statistics for the year 2012. The main indicators are as follows:

 

As of end-December 2012, the total asset of China's banking institutions denominated in RMB and foreign currency at home and abroad reached 133.6 trillion Yuan, which means a growth of 17.9% year on year. Among them, the total asset of large commercial banks reached 60 trillion Yuan, accounting for 44.9% of the total, with a growth of 11.9% year on year; joint-stock commercial banks had a total asset of 23.5 trillion Yuan, accounting for 17.6% of the total, with a 28.0% growth year on year. The liabilities of banking financial institutions denominated in RMB and foreign currency at home and abroad totaled 125 trillion Yuan, meaning a growth of 17.8% year on year. Among them, the liabilities of large commercial bank totaled 56.1 trillion Yuan, accounting for 44.9% of the total, with a growth of 11.6% year on year; liabilities of joint-stock commercial banks totaled 22.2 trillion Yuan, accounting for 17.8% of the total, with a growth of 28.4% year on year.

 

As of end-December 2012, the NPL stock of commercial banks reached 492.9 billion Yuan, increasing by 64.7 billion Yuan year on year; NPL ratio was 0.95%, decreasing by 0.01 percentage point year on year; the liquidity ratio was 45.8%, meaning a year-on-year rise of 2.7 percentage points; loan-to-deposit ratio was 65.3%, increasing by 0.5 percentage point year on year; RMB excess reserve ratio was 3.5%, increasing by 0.4 percentage point year on year.

 

The annual accumulative net profit of commercial banks totaled 1.24 trillion Yuan, meaning a year-on-year growth of 18.9%; average return on asset was 1.3%, keeping the same level with the same period of last year; average return on equity was 19.8%, falling by 0.6 percentage point year on year; the average weighted capital adequacy ratio was 13.3 %, meaning an increase of 0.5 % year on year; the average weighted core capital adequacy ratio was 10.6%, increasing by 0.4 percentage point year on year.
